Feds floating a macabre study

It's called the "Carcass Drift Study" and it's exactly what it sounds like.

It's called the "Carcass Drift Study" and it's exactly what it sounds like: Federal researchers are in the midst of monitoring hundreds of dead birds and scores of dummy birds dropped into the Gulf of Mexico, according to Houma's Courier newspaper. The birds are attached to buoys and radio transmitters. The aim is to determine what happened to thousands of Gulf sea birds that disappeared during last year's BP spill. The oil giant is footing the bill for the $1 million study being conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
