Asleep at the Wheel and more to play AcA

The other day we posted the Louisiana Crossroads line-up for the 2011-12 season at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Now a new series presented by Iberia Bank is bringing internationally appreciated acts to the same venue, the AcA's James D. Moncus Theatre.

The other day we posted the Louisiana Crossroads line-up for the 2011-12 season at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Now a new series presented by Iberia Bank is bringing international acts to the same venue, the AcA's James D. Moncus Theatre.

The series begins on Friday of next week (Sept. 9) and there are four events for the fall/winter season. As soon as the 2012 line-up is posted we will let you know. All events are at 8 p.m.

Sept. 9, The Tokyo String Quartet
This is their first Louisiana performance. The four virtuoso players from around the world will be performing on priceless Stradivarius instruments including violin, viola and cello.

Oct. 7, Robert Cray
One of the most famous living blues musicians out there, Cray is just now wrapping up his European tour and heading to the U.S.

Nov. 2, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder
Bluegrass comes to the swamp in this performance by this multiple award winner with the marvelous coiffure.

Nov. 15, Asleep at the Wheel with Yvette Landry & special guests
Texas swing dances into the Moncus Theatre with homegrown sensation Yvette Landry at it side.
