The Greenroom downtown has cultivated an entertaining and educational way to sample unique beer while meeting fellow beer enthusiasts and learning the art of the brew at the same time.
At 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, $5 will get you five beer samples to sip while a "special guest" describes each of the beers as the tasting moves forward. At the end of the Brew 101 session, pick your favorite of the five you sampled and get a full beer as part of the deal.
The Oct. 6 Beer Club will include brews from the NOLA microbrewery. Preregistration is not necessary, but hitting every Beer Club will only benefit you in your brew quest because no beers from the previous monthly meet will be sampled.
As Greenroom owner Robert Guercio says, Beer Club is "a wonderful opportunity to broaden your beer horizons."
And if specialty beer isn't your thing, Greenroom's daily happy hour specials, from 3ish until 8 every evening, include $1.25 domestic beers and well liquors, $2.25 call liquors and local draft, $3.25 premium liquors and frozen drinks - and free shuffle board.
