LGMC celebrates centennial milestone

Black-tie event at AcA highlights growth of Lafayette not-for-profit hospital.

Lafayette General Medical Center is hosting a 100th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 pm at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The black-tie celebration will showcase LGMC's transition from the eight-bed Lafayette Sanitarium in 1911 to Acadiana's largest full-service, not-for-profit hospital. The centennial event will also serve as the inauguration of the hospital's newly formed foundation.

Proceeds of the gala will go to the newly formed Lafayette General Foundation. "We continue to see reimbursement decreases while costs for providing indigent medical care are on the rise," says LGMC President and CEO David Callecod. "This [foundation] will afford us the opportunity to continue to fund the latest technology, treatments and research."

The evening's celebrations will include an art auction featuring the works of George Rodrigue and other local artists, as well as musical entertainment by Feufollet. Admission to the gala is $100 per person. Call (337) 289-8600 for more information.
