Hardy-Pierre match getting ugly?

As predicted, the state House District 44 race is becoming heated a month out from the Oct. 22 election. The Daily Advertiser is reporting today that the campaign of challenger Vincent Pierre has filed two police complaints against incumbent Rep. Rickey Hardy, D-Lafayette, or a surrogate, beginning with an alleged altercation on the first day of qualifying at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse between Pierre and Hardy's legislative aide.

The second incident, the paper reports, allegedly took place Sept. 14 in front of Hardy's home and involved the lawmaker and a Pierre campaign volunteer. Hardy is downplaying the allegations as "trash talking."
