Here is some theater news, darling

by Anna Purdy

Downtown Lafayette is being happily inundated with great theater lately, even more so than usual. Now local thespians want you to take part.

Sept. 26 and 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the Acadiana Center for the Arts the Acting Up! company is holding auditions for Twelfth Night to be performed this fall. Most of its cast will be filled by Acting Up!'s members, however the spots that are open will enable you to work with a seasoned set of actors.

You don't need to be theatrically trained or practice your monologue from Hamlet you studied in high school. Just be familiar with Shakespeare and Twelfth Night in particular and show up with enthusiasm. The AcA is located at 101 W. Vermilion St.

The other exciting theater news in Lafayette is that AUI/AURA acting company and Bonnie Bell's Bistro are joining up to host a special dinner theater this Thursday. On Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. Bonnie Bell's, located a few steps away from The Compound theater, which is AUI/AURA's home nest, will host the dinner. For $30 you get a great meal and general seating admission to William and Judith, a whimsical play about Shakespeare, his family and the question of his authorship, written by Cody Daigle. The ticket price includes taxes and tip. Seating is very limited. Purchase seats by going to the on-line invitation or by calling 873-1548. If you are looking for an amazing date this would be the thing to do.
