Cox wins 'Ragin' for the Cajuns' contest

by Leslie Turk

Cox Communications goes all out for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Cox Communications is the first winner of The Independent's "Ragin' for the Cajuns" contest, designed to encourage more local businesses, schools, classrooms and organizations to help turn Lafayette into a sea of vermilion every Friday.

Cox, a major supporter of UL sports, employs more than 1,650 people in the state with an annual payroll of over $80 million. In this region, Cox serves over 511,000 customers with voice, video and data products in the all or portions of 18 parishes including: Acadia, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. Martin, St. Mary, Vermilion and West Baton Rouge. For more info on the company, click here.

Here's how the contest works: Each Friday by 11 a.m., email a spirited pic of your company or organization dressed in red to photographer Robin May at [email protected], and we'll choose a winner and post your pic and a short profile of your company, organization or school on our website (and, space permitting, in the following Wednesday's issue of the paper). Images not chosen from the previous week are eligible to compete in subsequent weeks (the photo, however, must have been taken on a Friday).

The Independent staff (well, a few of us) showed our UL spirit today, too.

Coming off their upset of Florida International last week, the Ragin' Cajuns, 3-1, face Florida Atlantic, 0-3, Saturday at 6 p.m. at Cajun Field.
