Arguably no gastronomic experience can make someone feel like being one of Frank Sinatra's "members of the board" than a meal coordinated around the rich peat and smoky flavors of whiskey and complimented by a cigar.

Every month Charley G's, located at 3809 Ambassador Caffery, hosts a themed dinner. The price includes everything: the sumptuous meals and the drinks, and in the case of this dinner, a cigar. It starts at 7 p.m.

For $125 patrons are guests to four courses with a different whiskey at each one, designed to complement the notes of the amber treat. Cigars are obviously not smoked inside the restaurant - patrons are invited to step outside and try the cigar, or skip that part altogether if they prefer.

Some of the menu items will be bacon and oyster paté, pork ribeye brined in Abita Root Beer, pecan pie and more. The menu is designed by Executive Chef Holly Goetting.

The Oil Center's Cigar Merchant will provide the smokes, and information will be on hand to educate diners about each one. There will also be some whiskey education.

Past dinners have included Mardi Gras themes, Argentinian themes, wines and more.

To attend, reservations are required. To make reservations, contact Charley G's at 981-0108 or [email protected].
