LGMC babies born to be Ragin' Cajuns

Every baby born at the local hospital gets a complimentary copy of local author Jady Regard's book Born to be a Ragin' Cajun.

LGMC announced Monday that it will honor UL's Ragin' Cajuns football team, 8-2, by providing all new births at the hospital with local entrepreneur/author Jady Regard's book Born to be a Ragin' Cajun.

The gesture was made at the UL athletic complex during the team's weekly football media luncheon Monday.

The book will be distributed to all babies born at LGMC starting Nov. 11 and continuing until the start of the 2012 football season. Approximately 2,000 babies are born annually at The Pavilion, the hospital's birthing center.

"The Cajuns football team is off to one of the best starts in school history and bound for its first bowl game in 41 years," LGMC President and CEO David Callecod said in making the announcement. "As a community leader, we recognize and support the university as a big part of what makes Acadiana so special."

The Ragin' Cajuns football team, undefeated at home this season, is scheduled to visit patients at LGMC Dec. 12.
