Get your rocks off and charity on with ASO

by Anna Purdy

Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and Conservatory of Music hosts "On the Rocks" with Lafayette DJs serving up drinks for charity.

It's glorious when you can order drinks in the name of helping kids. From 5-8 p.m. Dec. 8 at Trynd in downtown Lafayette, ASO is holding a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club music programs. Steve Wiley, Bernadette Lee, Chris Logan and Chris Reed take over the bar and each have their own specialty drink at a set price to make and serve. The four DJs will compete with each other for the most tips to be the winning bartender and all the tips go entirely to the kids' music program.

The funds allow the ASO to continue providing free musical instruction with the Conservatory's faculty. The program teaches kids who can't afford lessons as well as helping provide them with instruments.

There will be door prizes and raffle tickets to win things like gift cards to the Mall of Acadiana, Poseidon's, Andy's Jewelry and the money raised again goes entirely to the Boys and Girls Club music programs.

There is no cover to get into this event. If you want dinner, reserve in advance because there is a special three-course meal in conjuction with ASO's fundraise being prepared by celebrity chefs. Call Trynd at 704-0999 for reservations.
