Crowley Rice Theater is offering up a different sort of holiday tale this year with its telling of how Captain Hook tried to destroy Christmas and how Peter Pan and his friends saved it.

Premiering Dec. 16, it's called A Neverland Christmas Carol. The story combines the Darling family, Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, Captain Hook and his crew. After Peter Pan hears the Darling family's mother telling Christmas stories he goes back to try to teach and share the Christmas spirit in his world. Captain Hook acts true to form as he tries to destroy the holiday and gets visited by the Christmas spirits in order to learn the error of his ways. It's combining two classic Victorian tales into one modern mash-up.

A Neverland Christmas Carol is being directed by Machelle Booty for the Pandemonium Theater Group.

This runs for one weekend only. Performance times are Dec. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. and a matinee Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10. You can purchase them at the Crowley Rice Theater an hour before showtime. Call 230-9175 with any questions.

A special performance for school children is at noon Dec. 16 and is $2 per student. Registration is required.
