Summer may be a distant memory as the streets of downtown darken by 5 p.m. and cooler weather prevails, but the Pontchatoula strawberries that define the Indian Summer cocktail at Pamplona Tapas Bar can help carry you right back to warmer memories.

This strawberry concoction begins with a strawberry simple syrup, made from Pontchatoula strawberries that were frozen over the summer while still in season. Add Mount Gay rum ("the rum that invented rum"), lime and Boston Bittah to the mix and end with a festive find that's more smooth than it is sweet.

Priced at $8, the Indian Summer is one of several new cocktails listed on Pamplona's latest seasonal drink menu, propped nicely alongside the everyday favorites like the house white or red sangria and an always exceptional wine list.

Cheers!
