Pastor acquitted on domestic violence charge

Bishop Jarvis Harmon, pastor of True Vine Ministries, was found not guilty Wednesday following an eight-hour bench trial.

A Lafayette cleric arrested in September 2010 following a physical altercation with his estranged wife has been acquitted of a domestic battery charge in city court. Bishop Jarvis Harmon, pastor of True Vine Ministries, was found not guilty Wednesday following an eight-hour bench trial presided over by Judge Doug Saloom.

According to Jarvis' attorney, Derriel McCorvey, Harmon "is extremely happy that a neutral judge, after examining the evidence and hearing all witnesses' testimony, cleared him of the charge. [Harmon] reiterates that he should have never been arrested or charged based upon the fact that he was the only one who was attacked and beaten in the unfortunate incident at True Vine Ministries..."
