First, Rand McNally and USA Today decided we were the best small city in the South in which to eat. Now Southern Living is nominating us for a Tastiest Town Award.

Starting Dec. 23 voting will be enabled online so we can all vote for Lafayette to win. Southern Living is a venerated magazine since it began in 1966. Tourists, chefs and businesses as well as those living in the southern climes look to it as a monthly bible, of sorts, for the latest and greatest of all things in the American South. It features everything from house plans to restaurant profiles, recipes and interviews. Scoring this would be a major dose of awesome for Lafayette.

Our city is up against New Orleans, Baltimore, Louisville, Charleston, Houston, Raleigh, Charlottesville, Birmingham and Decatur, GA.

The day voting begins The Independently Weekly will post another blog reminding you to vote, vote often and early and to tell everyone you know to take less than 10 seconds and at least vote once. The winning city will be profiled in Southern Living. Check out the contest information here.
