NEW ORLEANS UL's football team missed out on a scoring opportunity when a penalty nullified a potential field goal, but a Ragin' Cajun defensive stop and two stellar punts by Brett Baer kept the Cajuns in control 19-10 late in the third quarter of the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
Baer's 46-yard field goal try was halted by a procedure penalty with just over 10 minutes left in the quarter, but his following punt was downed by Jemarious Moten and Bill Bentley at the SDSU 1-yard line. Moments later after neither team could move, Baer again pinned the Aztecs at the 1 just past the midway point of the period.
