SoLa ‘cub' reporters pounce on Iowa

by Walter Pierce

Caucus voters in Iowa are hopefully getting accustomed to pronouncing names like Caillier, Guidry and Richard because they're getting a dose of South Louisiana this week.

Caucus voters in Iowa are hopefully getting accustomed to pronouncing names like Caillier, Guidry and Richard because they're getting a dose of South Louisiana this week as more than two dozen student-journalists from LSU including former Independent intern/contributing writer Andrea Gallo have descended on the Hawkeye State to cover the nation's first match in the presidential nominating process. The LSU contingent is providing up-to-the-minute blog reports and videos from around Iowa as Republican and independent voters make their selection for a presidential candidate.

Gallo covers student government for LSU's student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, and interned here on Jefferson Street last summer. Read her and her fellow student-journalists' coverage of the Iowa Caucuses at their cleverly named website, Iowa of the Tiger, and expect some direct caucus reporting from Gallo soon. The kids are also tweeting news and observations. Check that out here.
