Ind contributing writer Jeremy Alford, writing for The Political Desk and citing sources, is reporting today that Rep. Joel Robideaux, R-Lafayette, has been appointed chairman of the Ways & Means Committee, the House's chief tax-writing panel.

The Lafayette pol is a certified public accountant by trade. Robideaux ultimately lost the speaker post to Lake Charles Republican Rep. Chuck Kleckley, who became the favored candidate of Gov. Bobby Jindal.
