Celebrating Lafayette and all its glory

by Heather Miller

The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet, set for Feb. 2 at the Cajundome Convention Center, will feature keynote speaker Gary Luquette, Chevron's president for North America exploration and production.

New natural gas-fueled buses rolling, a new and dynamic schools superintendent, a new award for Best Food and, of course, a new and unprecendented win in Ragin' Cajuns football.

The Hub City has hit many milestones this year, all of which will be touted at the upcoming Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce annual banquet, Celebrate Lafayette, slated for Feb. 2 at the Cajundome Convention Center.

"If you look at these recent Chamber successes and pair them with the many other recent community accomplishments and accolades you begin to realize that Lafayette is a great place," says Fugro Chance Chief Information Officer Jerry Greig, who will be inducted at the banquet as the 2012 Chamber Chairman.

The Chamber successes Greig references include its five-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as being named National Chamber of the Year by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives.

The keynote speaker at this year's banquet is Gary Luquette, Chevron's president for North America exploration and production.

"The Chamber has a long legacy of leading efforts and supporting efforts that improve the business environment and the community at large," says The Pinnacle Group's Rob Eddy, chairman-elect for 2012. "I expect this year to be no different as significant issues and initiatives are reaching critical decision points. The annual chamber banquet is always a terrific kickoff to our year as this event draws a large audience of members including business and community leaders and is a great networking opportunity."
