The Metropolitan Planning Organization, otherwise known as the Lafayette City-Parish Council, will consider an amendment to the 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Plan that affects four traffic projects in the area including the $27.7 million resurfacing and widening of Verot School Road in south Lafayette Parish. That project, according to documents related to the proposed amendment, is on hold so officials can obtain additional rights of way. Also affected by Amendment No. 7 to the TIP are delays in the construction of two roundabouts - one due to a change in the source of funding; the other due to an $800,000 cost increase - and the installation of lighting at the I-10/I-49 interchange.

The MPO meeting begins Tuesday evening in the council chamber immediately following the regularly scheduled CPC meeting, which has a short agenda and shouldn't last more than a half hour.
