Quoting LUS Director Terry Huval, City-Parish President Joey Durel and fiber opponent Tim Supple, among others, the story by Rick Jervis recounts the court battle city officials and fiber supporters fought - a battle that was ultimately successful after going all the way to the state Supreme Court - to establish LUS Fiber and to issue the bonds that bankrolled the roll-out of the program over the intervening years. While balanced in its effort to give opponents a voice, the article by and large takes a positive view of LUS Fiber. Supple, somewhat inexplicably, is identified in the story as an LUS Fiber subscriber, although he remains steadfastly opposed to a public utility competing with private enterprise.
