Part of Jefferson Street will be closed down Sunday for the Greenroom Masquerade Ball.

Opelousas group Soul Express Brass Band will be performing and leading people down the street. Starting at 7 p.m. Greenroom will offer drink specials and prizes for best male and female Mardi Gras masks.

The shindig shuts down at midnight when the bars do. Plenty of business have joined together to be open this Sunday for the event to keep the festival spirit going.

This is the second ball Greenroom has thrown. The bar is owned by Robert Guercio and Michael Delcambre. Guercio says this year's event is bigger than last years and he hopes to continue the tradition. There is no charge to attend.

Jefferson Street will only be closed down from Garfield to Cypress streets spanning the 200-300 blocks Feb. 19.
